The Experience

I'm convinced that sometimes isn't always about just the music. I go to a lot of concerts and see a lot of talented, and not so talented bands play music. I heard a band tonight that at first I was kind of like what the heck, then I really started to like what they had going. These dudes had energy, a really solid drummer and their music was fun to rock out to. For these guys I felt like they really sold their music to the crowd and the crowd got into it. What I'm getting at is, it seems like some bands might not be as good as others, but they are a lot better at getting a crowd into it, so for that I say props to them! I honestly don't "discover" much new music from opening acts, but some bands are just that good at getting my attention that I look into what they have going on and just might get their cd and see them in the future.

  1. Heck yeah dude! That's basically how we truly "discovered" Emery. We heard about them, but hadn't really listened to them. Then we saw them at a show and not only was their music great, but they put on a great show and made a solid "first impression" on us. We've been into them ever since.

  2. U know I gotta put my stick in this fire...I'm totally feeling what you're sayin...there's one sure fire thing that sells a crowd on music and that is participation. If the crowd feels like they are watching a live show as if they were watching it on tv with no way of interaction, then it's harder to get into. It's honestly more about energy and presence than it is talent I think. People don't need the best music in the world to rock out to...they need whatever is going to alter their mood, catch their attention and allow them to feel it's alright to just loose themselves in whats goin on and go FREAKIN CRAZY!! HAH!
